O’Connor Brewing Co. (OBC), a local craft brewery located in Norfolk, VA, is promoting support for Norfolk Botanical Garden for the month of May. Each month OBC seeks to raise awareness and garner support for a better community, by donating collected funds to select local organizations—this May they will be supporting Norfolk Botanical Garden as their “Charity of the Month.” All donations given at the end of the month will help provide an educational, entertaining, and immersive garden experience for all ages; offer volunteer opportunities for the community; and lead through environmental action. Norfolk Botanical Garden also features an “O’Connor Grain and Hop Garden,” a place designed to showcase the education aspect of beer. Horticulturist Alex Cantwell was inspired by O’Connor’s brewers and now teaches classes at the garden such as “The Horticulture and History of Beer” and “Gardening for the Home Brewer.”
Contributors can give their donations at the brewery by “Rounding Up” their check to the next dollar amount on any purchases of beer and merchandise. For those wanting to donate more, you may choose instead to add $1, $3, or $5 to your final bill total. In addition to the donations, a DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR MATCH will be made by O’Connor Brewing Co.
Their brewery located in Norfolk’s Railroad District, is open to the public at the Tasting Room, outdoor Beer Garden, and also offers space for featured food trucks and special events. O’Connor Brewing is currently distributing select beers in select stores and restaurants throughout the area, from Maryland, throughout Virginia, to the Outer Banks, NC.
